Sliding Doors for Tight Bedrooms

SMALL BEDROOM SOLUTION

When a Hinged Wardrobe Just Won’t Work

Sliding doors keep the walkway clear in tight bedroom layouts.

In smaller bedrooms, it’s common for a bed to sit close to the wardrobe wall — which means a traditional hinged door wardrobe becomes a daily frustration. Doors catch on the bed, you lose walking space, and accessing clothes turns into a shuffle.

This is exactly why sliding door wardrobes are such a popular choice for tight spaces: the doors glide behind each other rather than swinging out into the room.

The Problem: The Bed Was Blocking the Doors

On this project, the customer simply didn’t have the clearance for hinged doors. With the bed positioned near the wardrobe wall, a standard wardrobe would have:

  • Reduced the walkway
  • Made the room feel cramped
  • Made it awkward to access drawers and hanging space

Our Solution: A Made-to-Measure Sliding Door Wardrobe

We installed a sliding door wardrobe that sits neatly on the wall and keeps the room layout exactly how the customer needed it.

Because sliding doors don’t open outward, it kept the walkway clear — meaning the customer could still:

  • Walk past the bed comfortably
  • Access the wardrobe without moving furniture
  • Keep the room feeling open and usable

Why Sliding Doors Are Perfect for Small Bedrooms

If you’re dealing with a tight room layout, sliding doors are usually the best option because:

  • No swing space needed (doors don’t clash with beds, bedside tables or radiators)
  • Better flow around the room
  • Clean, built-in look that makes the room feel bigger
  • Great for awkward spaces where every centimetre matters
