Hallway Storage That Doesn’t Eat Your Space (Sliding Doors)
Made-to-Measure Sliding Door Storage for Hallways
Keep the walkway clear. Hide the everyday clutter.
Hallways get messy fast because they’re not designed for storage
Most hallways end up as a dumping ground for coats, shoes, bags, school stuff, the hoover, the mop… and it only takes a couple of people in the house before it feels chaotic.
The problem is usually the same:
- There’s nowhere “proper” for everything to live
- Standard units stick out too far
- Hinged doors smack into the walkway or the front door
- The hallway feels narrower than it needs to
A made-to-measure sliding door setup fixes that properly — shallow where it needs to be, full height if you want it, and no doors swinging into the space.
Why sliding doors work better in hallways
Sliding doors are perfect where space is tight because:
- No swing clearance (you keep the walkway clear)
- You can go shallower than standard wardrobes
- It looks built-in and tidy (even if the hallway is awkward)
- You can hide “everyday clutter” behind clean doors
What we can build into a hallway wardrobe
A proper hallway setup can include:
- Coat hanging (including longer coats)
- Shoe shelves or pull-out shoe storage
- Drawers for hats, gloves, dog leads, keys
- A tall section for the hoover / ironing board / mop & bucket
- Shelves up high for less-used items
And because it’s made to measure, we design it around:
- Skirting boards & architraves
- Wonky walls / older houses
- Radiators, meters, alarm panels (we plan around them)
This install: shallow sliding wardrobe in a customer’s hallway
On this project, the customer wanted proper storage in the hallway without losing walking space. We designed a shallower-than-standard sliding wardrobe with:
- Hanging rails front-to-back to suit the depth
- A few shelves for shoes
- A dedicated tall section for buckets, mop, hoover and ironing board
Result: a hallway that stays clear, looks tidy, and actually works day-to-day.
Door finishes that suit a hallway
Hallways are often darker, so we regularly fit:
- Mirror doors (bounce light + quick “check before you leave”)
- Coloured glass for a clean modern look
- Wood / panel finishes for warmth
- Frames and handles can be matched to your home (black, silver, champagne, Stone beige etc.)
